About Engela Otto Podiatrist

“I was tickled by the podiatry bug early in life watching a podiatrist treat my sister, mother and then me and it has developed into an immense passion. I qualified with my Bachelors of Technology in podiatry in 2019. I thereafter jumped straight into a practice in Rustenburg where I gained valuable experience in a variety of conditions. I started my own practice in George on a temporary basis in June 2022 and relocated permanently in November 2022.

Educating patients about their ailments is very important to me. Without the knowledge of the cause of their condition, treatment is only temporary. My goal is to assist in diagnosing and treating every ailment that walks through my door.

I did an intensive course in diabetes through the Centre of Diabetes and Endocrinology(CDE) and have a special place in my heart for diabetes care.”

I work closely with Biokineticists and Physiotherapists to treat and manage conditions as many require a multidisciplinary approach.

“A Podiatrist is a highly trained professional, specialising in foot care and the treatment of problems affecting the lower limbs. They examine, diagnose, treat, prevent and rehabilitate foot ailments through a range of treatment methods including biomechanical, surgical and more.

With only one pair of feet to last a lifetime, it’s important to take good care of them. Foot health problems can be experienced by anyone, from children to seniors. Podiatrists are often called upon by other physicians and health care professionals for consultation and treatment when foot issues arise.”  -Podiatry association of South Africa
